Why it makes a good gift
Best for : Toddlers around their first birthday who are starting to stack, knock down and rebuild, and the adults buying for them.
Best occasion : A first birthday, a toddler's holiday present, or a gift that can be shared with an older sibling who already owns blocks.
Why it works : Blocks sized for small hands are one of the few first toys that stay relevant from stacking at age one to open-ended building later, and the bag turns cleanup into part of the routine. The listing stresses grip-friendly shapes and fine motor skills, and the bag with a hand strap travels easily to a grandparent's house. At about $17 with a 4.8 rating across more than 132,000 reviews, it is one of the most proven toddler toys in this ranking.
Avoid if : The child is already past the toddler stage and wants detailed building sets: the blocks are big and simple. As with any toy for ages 1 and up, check the small-parts guidance on the listing and supervise play.
