Best occasion : Christmas for a creative kid or teen, or a birthday gift to kick off a painting hobby.
Why it works : Paint and 12 brushes come in the same box, so the recipient can start the day it is opened, and 54 colors including fluorescent and metallic ones leave room to experiment before buying more. The listing says it works on canvas, wood, rocks and ceramic, which suits painting rocks and crafts as well as canvases. A 4.7 rating from more than 11,000 reviews makes it a safe pick for a creative kid.
