BOSS TU-3 Chromatic Pedal Tuner
✓ Product data checked October 15, 2026
The BOSS TU-3 is a stompbox-format chromatic tuner that succeeds the TU-2, which BOSS calls the world's top-selling stage tuner. It has a 21-segment LED meter with a high-brightness mode for outdoor glare, accuracy to within one cent, chromatic and guitar/bass modes (including 7-string guitars and 6-string basses) and flat tunings down to six semitones below standard. It mutes the signal while tuning and, per the listing, can supply power to up to seven BOSS compact pedals. It is rated 4.8 across more than 2,500 reviews.
Why it makes a good gift
Best for : A guitarist or bassist who plays in a band or at jams and still tunes with a phone app or a clip-on
Best occasion : Birthdays and Christmas for a guitarist, or a first-pedalboard gift
Why it works : A tuner is a core piece of a pedalboard, and this one is a recognizable step up from a phone app. The LED meter has a high-brightness mode for bright stages, the signal mutes while tuning, and it can feed power to other BOSS compact pedals, so it is useful on day one and still useful as the board grows. A 4.8 rating across more than 2,500 reviews points to a tool players are happy to keep on their board.
Avoid if : The recipient does not play guitar or bass, or only plays at home, where a cheaper clip-on tuner does the same job without taking up pedalboard space.
